The Good Place S1E7 Review
S1E7 "The Eternal Shriek"
The episode picks up right where the last episode left off. Janet has a hilarious moment where she attempts to cry. Michael explains what happens in retirement, which is funny in how brutal it is. Eleanor and Chidi talk about what to do, and it is really funny when Eleanor complains about how bad things always happen to mediocre people who are lying.
Michael talks about all of the human things he wanted to try, which is a really funny list. Chidi and Eleanor go to kill Janet, which is hilarious in the way it is set up. Janet is so funny; her character is one of the best ideas that the show has come up with.
There is a hilarious funeral held for Janet. Jason has some great lines, such as about Janet getting Chidi weed, and about not getting to get candy from the pinata. Chidi's flashbacks continue to be uninteresting, sad considering that the rest of the episode is so great. The episode ends with Eleanor admitting she isn't supposed to be in the good place, which I am surprised that they would do in the middle of the first season.
This was a great episode, aside from the Chidi flashbacks. The show's story is advancing at a rapid pace, much different than most sitcoms, and I am loving it.
