The TV Ratings Guide's Take On...Lethal Weapon, Pitch, and The Exorcist

As the season gets closer and closer, we are down to our second-to-last edition of "The TV Ratings Guide's Take On...". Enjoy!

Lethal Weapon
Full Boyle
A remake of the movies, Lethal Weapon gets to air pre-Empire, which has worked well for Rosewood, until Empire is out of the picture, then Rosewood crashed. TV remakes of movies have not worked well recently (see: Limitless, Minority Report). It might get sampled well, but probably won't get another go. CANCEL

HV
Since this show will have more non-Empire airings than Rosewood, I predict cancelation.

Jon
Lethal Weapon is a spinoff to a movie series. Now, we all know that those do very fell (not really). But there are a few outliers, where a spin-off to a movie series will do OK, and I think this is one. People aren the web seemed excited enough for it, and it has received an alright amount of buzz, trailer views, etc. I do think the show will be renewed.

theratingsjunkie
I don't think this one will do well. It may be a time slot hit when Empire is on, but movie remakes haven't done all that well lately and I don't think this will be an exception, or a stand-alone success. I'm leaning cancel.

Pitch
Full Boyle
Instead of putting this one with compatible Empire, Pitch will air on Thursdays after Rosewood, which did well with Empire, but without it crashed to fractional results. It might be able to do okay, but against the competition, probably won't last with the poor lead-in support. CANCEL

Jon
It seems every network has one this year. A show you would never really expect to get picked up, but does. For me, Pitch was FOX's. IN my opinion, this is a very easy prediction. I think the show will be cancelled, and not receive a backorder. The premise is, pardon my French, boring. Besides that, you don't see everyone saying "Pitch looks so good, I can't wait to watch it". I'm sorry, but I don't think the show will see spring.

HV
This show is incompatible with Rosewood, and airing on a night difficult for FOX, so it'll likely get canceled.

theratingsjunkie
Nothing would surprise me with Pitch. I'd like to be optimistic about its chances, but it's just so incompatible with Rosewood and should be paired with Empire, a show that it's likely to share many key demographics with. Having said that, look at the ratings for some of the shows FOX has renewed. I foresee this growing out of Rosewood and getting renewed, even if growing out of Rosewood won't be that big of an achievement. And Jon, I'm looking forward to it and think the premise is very interesting.

The Exorcist
Full Boyle
Having to air on Fridays, The Exorcist is another movie remake. The majority of series that have aired on FOX Friday have been burnoffs or reality shows. This probably doesn't have much of a chance, also considering that movie remakes have not done well. CANCEL

HV
I just don't think that this show can survive, even on Friday, so I predict cancelation.

Jon
I've always thought FOX does a good job in the mystery/horror genre, and I would've predicted this as a renewal. However, that changed when they schedule it on Fridays. I would think that this would get say Pitch's timeslot, not be put on Fridays. But putting the day aside, I could still see this show doing OK, since it is based off of a popular movie, but then again I could see it utterly flopping, as internet commenters do not think it looks good. Also, it is a spin off to a movie. Those always go over so well. So, this is a tough show to predict, but I will have to predict it as a cancellation.

theratingsjunkie
They picked The Exorcist to air on Friday nights instead of Scream Queens, and it's getting replaced by Sleepy Hollow midseason. I don't think there are huge expectations on this one. Predicting a cancelation.
